SEO Frequently Asked Questions

Is it true that search engines don’t like dynamically generated pages?  How do I know if my web designer used them on my web site?  Are there certain areas where they should be used?

!)Dynamic sites often need certain information before they can return the page content: common requirements are session id's, cookie data, or query strings. Search engines do not like to read session IDs or cookies. When given one often the search engine will leave the site. So if you have a dynamic site it is important to use hard coded text links or some type of Rewrite Software that enables the search engines the capability to spider your dynamic content.

2)The best thing is to ask your web designer if he/she is using dynamic content on the site or you can simply tell by seeing if you have these types of urls with special characters in them example: "www.yourdomain.com/index.php?cat=199.

3)Finally dynamic sites are great for sites that require constant updates and changes as they make it very easy for webmasters to update: product offerings, images, prices change, etc...  all you have to do is edit the database and it automatically updates the entire site rather than having to go in and edit many pages.
